KIHO attending village public meeting at Kizungo village, 30th of September, 2014

On Tuesday 30th, the village government leaders of Kizungo village invited KIHO to attend the village public meeting. KIHO was represented by Mr Kateri Genes Daniel, Mr Gerry Joseph and the two French volunteers Mr Faes Jérôme and Mr Pucek Joseph volunteering in KIHO’s organization. 
The four representatives were actively involved in the meeting session. The goal of the village leaders was to let KIHO introduce itself to the community so that, the community is aware of how KIHO operates and how it can cooperate with Kizungo farmers in facilitation and support of development initiative activities.

Kizungo is one of 91 rural village in Same district. 2140 people live in this village where as, 95% of village economy is dependant on agriculture and seasonal crops husbundry. Successfuly about 40 out of 60 village leaders-representatives 
attended this meeting. The Director of KIHO, Mr. Kateri (giving his speech on the right), explained to the village leaders, the four sectors which KIHO is basically involved in. These sectors include food security, water supply, hygiene and sanitation, education and income generation initiatives.

The director insisted to the village leaders on the importance of cooperation and support of different development stakeholders in a common focussed goal. He said that, KIHO is one of the active local Tanzanian NGOs which is willing to support the development initiatives of people in Kizungo village. Mr Kateri informed the audience that, no later than sooner, KIHO will organize an event to handle over the Money Maker Irrigation Pump which will help farmers in dry season gardening at Itegho agricultural basin in Kizungo village. The director of KIHO explained that, similar project has been successfuly implemented at Minyala village and already farmers enjoy benefits from using Money Maker Pumps. This is more obvious in supporting dry season farming and gardening.

The director of KIHO giving to Kizungo farmers home magazines “Mkulima Mbunifu Jarida la Kilimo Endelevu Africa Mashariki”. The magazine is rich in practical and approriate agricultural practices practiced elsewhere to help farmers improve their productivity.
