KIHO'S approach

KIHO working with Masai community

KIHO has its own approach to local community development. As all KIHO board members are born in Same District and do live or have lived in different parts of Kilimanjaro Region, the area is very familiar to us. Since the childhood, KIHO board members are aware about the challenges but of course also about the beauty of our region. KIHO has the mission and the vision to move this region forward and bring new hope to all local communities so that the full potential of its people can be realized.

  • Spend Time with the Community

KIHO’s board members spend quite a lot of time in the rural local communities to interact with the people over a longer period. The main needs are identified during many interactions in inclusive meetings with all stakeholders in the village.

  • Support Community Initiative Groups

Main priority is given to community initiative groups as KIHO strongly believes that only through a united effort the community can alleviate itself out of poverty. Such initiative groups strengthen the bonds in the village and the likelihood of success is increased enormously.

KIHO acts as a catalyst for development
  • Be the Catalyst for Development

KIHO acts as a catalyst to get the funding for the main priorities. In all projects that KIHO is implementing, sustainability is at the core on five pillars: environmental, financial, managerial, social and technical sustainability.
