Water irrigation pond to improve dry season gardening

Photo
More harvest with dry season gardening

Amount: $5,000 (TSH 8,000,000)

  • Why?
The small-holder farmers in our area need to construct water irrigation ponds to allow farming throughout the year and combat food insecurity. Reliant on seasonal rains to support the growing of both food and cash crops, the farmers in the highland areas receive very little harvest due to unreliable and inadequate rains which hardly can support the crops to their maturity stage. Consequently this situation causes crops failure in the agriculture fields and thus leading to severe food shortage and sufferings to the people, which mostly affects women and children.

  • What will you sponsor?
        - With your financial support, a complete water irrigation pond with concrete structure will be built that will support about 20 farms or 150 people
        - This structure improves the productivity of crops because of ensured water availability to satisfy the agricultural demand and avoid food insecurity
        - Your donation will also strengthen the local water committee that will receive more training and is able to provide repairs

  • What can you expect?
        - You will receive pictures from the hand-over of the construction materials to the local community group
        - You will receive the scanned “thank you” letter of this community including an English translation provided by KIHO
        - You will receive four updates every three months about how the project is going, including pictures
